How safe is your cellphone? The emission of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) from cell phones and its effect on human health is a growing concern. It is estimated that about 70% of energy emitted from cellphones is absorbed into the head, having a detrimental effect on brain function. This past May, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced it was classifying EM fields from mobile phones as “possibly carcinogenic to humans”. Their advice to the public was to reduce exposure through the use of safety measures such as hands-free devices.
