High Density Cork Countertop
Dense, lightweight, anti-bacterial cork slabs are made from 100% post-industrial recycled cork grain. They are used in many ways to make durable work surfaces for kitchen, bathroom, office, and commercial projects.
Leftover, waste material from producing wine corks is collected and combined under pressure with a polyurethane binder, containing 100% bio-based renewable carbon and no added urea formaldehyde. The resulting high-density closed cell structure is impermeable and non-porous. It resists water and stains, and it inhibits bacterial growth. It is heat resistant to 350° F and has a Class B fire rating.
Qualifies for LEED points.
The high-density cork is easily machined and seamed with standard woodworking tools and adhesives. We recommend biscuit joint and epoxy or wood glue to produce a virtually undetectable seam. Finish with any wood finish as desired.
